On Nov. 15, the City Market Downtown at City Hall will extend its hours until 6 pm so that customers can browse, enjoy and partake of holiday shopping while being a part of the Edmonton Downtown Business Association‘s annual Christmas on the Square Holiday Light Up event.
The Holiday Light Up runs from 4 pm until 7 pm, when Santa will light up the massive Christmas tree in the square. The market, meanwhile, which runs every Saturday from 9 am until 3 pm, will be open from 9 am until 6 pm. And don’t forget: after you’ve finished shopping, you can leave your items at the Veggie Valet service at the Info Desk, where staff are pleased to look after your purchases while you enjoy the Holiday Light Up events on the Square. This free service is just a small part of the ways the City Market Downtown shows its customers who convenient it is to shop local.

So plan on coming down to the market on Saturday, and staying for a great family event in the evening!

As summer winds down and fall begins, the City Market Downtown gets ready to ends its 10th summer season on 104 St and prepares to move back to City Hall for the winter.
On Oct. 18, hundreds of your favourite vendors will decamp to City Hall, where there will be activities, entertainment and all your favourite products, every Saturday of the winter months (except for Dec. 27, when vendors take a holiday break and the market is closed for that one Saturday).
Some of the exciting aspects of being in City Hall this winter include an addition to our weekly Kids’ Korner, when staff from the Art Gallery of Alberta attend to help our youngest guests showcase their creativity! This partnership is something the City Market Downtown is particularly proud of, and we look forward to the monthly visits from the Art Gallery of Alberta – your AGA!
We’ve also made some changes to our website to make the customers’ experience easier. We’ve added information on becoming a busker, as well a comprehensive list of our buskers, and additional pages on how to be a part of the market, including as a community table. We have also added an Events page, which will be updated on a weekly basis to provide you with all the latest happenings. And, as always, our weekly vendor maps are online on our homepage. They are posted every Friday and are as up-to-date as possible.
The City Market Downtown maintains great relationships with our customers via social media – via Twitter and Facebook, we are available to answer your questions and provide support to our vendors. And our Flickr site is a great visual representation of the market.
Join us on 104 St until Oct 11, and plan on being a part of downtown Edmonton’s winter adventures at City Hall. We are on the LRT line; there is ample indoor parking, and we are open every Saturday from 9 am to 3 pm!
See you on Saturday!
