Kick off the holiday season at the Holiday Light Up!
Enjoy an afternoon of live entertainment including music and dance, and delicious treats from local food trucks! Join Santa and his helpers in a countdown at 6:30 pm to light up the massive Christmas tree and launch a spectacular fireworks display.

At 6:30 pm Santa himself will wave the magic wand to light up the giant white spruce adorned with more than 14-thousand LED lights, cascading snowfalls, sparkles and stars. This beautiful tree was donated by Millar Western Forest Products, and installed and decorated by EPCOR. Following the tree lighting, the audience will be treated to a spectacular, choreographed fireworks show.
After The Holiday Light Up, the tree will illuminate Downtown nightly at dusk throughout the holiday season.

Free family fun with Scare on the Square Edmonton!
Get into costume and visit Churchill Square to celebrate a spooky good time this Halloween. From noon to four, Scare on the Square will host free activities for the whole family to enjoy. Check out Ron Pearson’s mind-blowing illusions and his Headless Terror above TIX on the Square. See your favourite local acts transform into international superstars: Billie Zizi as Amy Winehouse, The Almighty Turtlenecks as Wings, and Lucas Chaisson as Elvis. Carve a jacko-lantern with the help of the Sculptors’ Association of Alberta, explore mazes, go trick-ortreating at the City Market, take in a story on a wagon ride… and discover so much more!

The Edmonton Arts Council (EAC), in partnership with the City of Edmonton, programs activity and event happenings in Sir Winston Churchill Square for casual and day-to-day public use between major festivals and civic events. Since August 2011, EAC Churchill Square Programmer Bob Rasko has produced a diverse schedule of offerings open to the public including: Sunday Swing ‘n Skate, Live at Lunch, and Zumba on the Square. Working together to foster relationships and actions that reconnect people, land and food in Alberta; Alberta Food Matters grows through community development, research and evidence based approaches, policy and development as well as skill building, educational projects,programs and workshops. Find them at City Hall on Jan 9, Feb 6 and Mar 26 2016.
Alberta Health Services – Passion for Health
Alberta Health Services runs a program that is called Passion for Health reaching out to the public to let them know about free programs and services available to the public delivering health support. Find them at City Hall on Nov 21st 2015.
Boys and Girls Club – Big Sisters and Big Brothers
The Boys and Girls Club is a non-profit organization providing safe places with positive mentoring for children and youth. They offer programs that address the physical, emotional, academic and overall wellness of children and youth. Find them at City Hall on Feb 20th 2016.
Christmas Bureau of Edmonton
Since 1940 The Christmas Bureau’s mandate has been to provide a festive meal to Edmontonians in need. They provide food hampers and certificates for every dietary, religious, and cultural need. They also provide gift cards for teens 13-17 and collect toys for children 0-12 as part of Santas Anonymous. Find them at City Hall on Nov 28, Dec 5, and Dec 12 2015.
The Madeleine Sanam Foundation
The Madeleine Sanam Foundation is a non profit organization whose mission is to promote the development, autonomy, and well being of African and Caribbean women descent in Alberta. They have a number of HIV education and prevention projects directed at community health. Find them at City Hall on Oct 24 and Nov 14 2015.
Seniors Outreach Network Society
The Seniors Outreach Network Society supports seniors to be able to live independently in their homes for as long as possible. They connect seniors with community resources, provide social activities at their cozy home like drop-in, and match volunteers with isolated seniors. Find them at City Hall on Nov 7 2015.
