MacEwan dancers set to raise the roof August 23
Those rockin’ dancers who wowed the crowds when City Market Downtown headed back to 104 St on May 17 will be back at the market this weekend!
Staring at noon with DJ Creeasian and DJ Dice, the dance party will include all manner of dance forms, including children’s, ballet, hip hop, blues, and ballroom!
This is an event not to be missed, so planning on getting your shopping done early, so you can enjoy the masterful performances by the MacEwan University Arts Continuing Education instructors.

Dance at MacEwan University, School of Continuing Education
Arts Continuing Education at the Centre for the Arts Campus has everything from Ballroom and Latin Dance to Hip Hop, B-Boy/B-Girl, Contemporary and Ballet. Some of our new classes and instructors this fall include Blues Dance, Floor Barre and C’est Cabaret.
Sean Arceta – B-Boy/B-Girl
Sean (Pharush) has been b-boying for over 10 years and is with BBOY crew United 1ne. Sean teaches B-Boy/B-Girl at MacEwan and is a graduate of the Social Work and Media and Design program as well. Experience United1ne at www.united1ne.com
Matthew Wood is an award winning DJ whose career has taken him throughout the United States, Canada, Australia, and China. Creeasion is synonymous with empowering youth and community through music and dance and for his involvement with the First Nations community. As well as deejaying at clubs like Tribute, Matt hosts CipherWild every Thursday night in Churchill Square.
Chris Cousino has been crowned as one of Canada’s top Hip Hop Deejays. Chris teaches the DJ Workshop at MacEwan, was a key speaker and participant in the Hip Hop Heads symposium and is one of the rare DJ’s willing to share his knowledge and skills with youth and other performers. Dice is currently in his Edmonton music studio producing Hip Hop and performing shows at venues across Canada
Gail Hay – Ballet, Ballet Barre, Floor Barre, Contemporary, Tap and Children’s Dance
Gail is a much loved instructor who has a loyal following of committed students and a welcoming classroom for new students of all ages, levels and abilities.
Lee Hewitt and Blair Peregrym – Ballroom
Lee Hewitt and Blair Peregrym are the Ballroom Dance Directors at the University offering six levels of American Style ballroom including group classes, workshops, and individual lessons. Spanning fifteen years of teaching experience, their passion for dance is reflected in the easy-to-follow instruction, enthusiastic student participation, and a focus on fun.
Joe Pavo – Hip Hop
Joe approaches hip hop from the mind-set to the moves. Joe has been instructing and performing professionally for over 7 years and has competed locally, nationally and internationally.
Leah Paterson – Jazz
A graduate with Distinction from the Theatre Arts Program at MacEwan, Leah has trained extensively in jazz, classical ballet, contemporary, tap and hip hop. Leah directed and choreographed Letters and Words at the 2014 Fringe Festival. She is passionate about sharing her love of movement with others in an enthusiastic, challenging and most of all fun way
Tracey Pierog – C’est Cabaret
Tracey has been teaching dance, fitness and yoga classes for the last 8 years. With a passion for music and traveling, she has danced the Argentine Tango in Argentina, danced the Viennese Waltz in Vienna, and has hiked in the Austrian Alps. She has also done yoga in over 14 different countries (and counting!)
Jennifer Rush and Matt Long – Blues Dance
Matt shares his love of dance as an instructor at MacEwan University with Jennifer Rush and as Vice President and instructor at Nova Blues. Matt and Jennifer’s joy for dance and passion for music make for fun lessons emphasizing expression and mechanics in dance.
