The Board of Directors for the City Market Downtown is volunteer and is comprised of community members, local business owners, and City Market Downtown vendors who share a commitment to bringing quality, locally produced products in a friendly, urban market setting.
Meet our Volunteer Board
Dieter Kuhlmann, Chair – Dieter and his family operate Kuhlmann’s Market Gardens and Greenhouses, a second generation farm. The Kuhlmann family have been vendors at the City Market since it’s move to 104th Street, nearly a decade ago.
Joe Doef, Vice-Chair – Joe is a year-round City Market vendor who has grown greenhouse vegetables for more than 40 years close to Gull Lake in Lacombe County. Together with two sons and a son-in- law, he operates Doef’s Greenhouses.
Diana Neubauer, Treasurer - Diana and her family own and operate Mixes “R” Us and The Fork & Spoon Brigade. Prior to her time at farmers’ markets, Diana spent 22 years in restaurant operations and human resources. Diana and her husband operate the concession together with two of their four children and her mom.
Shannon Ruzicka, Secretary - Shannon and her husband are year-round vendors at the City Market Downtown. They own and operate Nature’s Green Acres, where they raise grass fed chicken, pork and nouveau beef. They are passionate about healthy land, healthy animals, and healthy food.
Jenny Berkenbosch – Jenny & her husband, James Vriend, are vegetable growers and the owners of Sundog Organic Farm, a City Market vendor. They are in their third year of business on their own 10 acre homestead.
Paul Mennier – After a 30-year career in broadcasting, Paul and his partner own and operate Cooks Corner, a commercial kitchen and local food processor. Paul is also a member of the Downtown Business Association.
Owen Petersen – Owen is the owner and operator of Prairie Mill Bread Company, and has been a regular vendor at the City Market for many years.
