A farmers’ market doesn’t come together on its own. Whether the market is inside City Hall, or outdoors on 104th Street, there is a tremendous amount of organization, work and communication that goes into bringing the market to life each Saturday. We talked to Chris Wallis, the Manager of the City Market Downtown, to find out the challenges of the job, the secrets behind running a farmers’ market, and how this opportunity has changed her life.

Joe and Helen Doef are long-time vendors at the City Market Downtown and other Edmonton and Alberta farmers’ markets. We talked to Joe about growing beautiful tomatoes in the snowy months and about his beautiful, new heart-shaped cucumbers.
