Market bound, year round. That can be you now that the City Market Downtown will operate inside City Hall during the winter months.
Starting October 15th, the City Market Downtown will move indoors to the atrium at City Hall at Sir Winston Churchill Square. It’s your same, beloved City Market experience but under the sunny, warm glow of the pyramids of City Hall. You can shop many of your favourite City Market vendors, like Kuhlmann’s Market Gardens & Greenhouses, Serben Free Range, Sunshine Organic Farm, The Happy Camel, Barr Estate Winery and more. Also joining us at City Hall are many of the buskers and entertainment that kept things lively on 104th Street.
The City Market Downtown at City Hall will be open from 10am to 3pm every Saturday until May 2012. When spring hits, we will return to our outdoor home on 104th Street. The Market is closed on for the holidays on Saturday, December 24 and Saturday, December 31.
Parking at the City Market Downtown at City Hall is a snap. You can park underground at City Hall for X hours for $X, or at Manulife Place for $1 for 3 hours. There is also some street parking around City Hall that costs $1 for 2 hours.
Market on your calendar! Come out and support your local farmers and artisans through the winter months. See you soon.

It has been a great season for corn this year – very sweet and plentiful. Many of our Market vendors are still selling corn from their farms. I am not aware of anyone looking to give corn away or at a discount. You would have to approach growers directly. Good luck.

Hi
Will all vendors continue @ city hall… I’m most worried about sundog and organic box, will they continue @ the city hall location. Also are any new vendors expected? City hall is more convenient for me, i would prefer to get all my shopping done here, however presently still need to use strathcona as there are more ethical vendors there, no offense intended. Any specific info would be appreciated like who are the temp vendors and who are the permanent vendors at city hall?
Thanks,
Kevin

Hi Kevin,
We have posted our list of vendors for the City Hall location, which you can see under “Vendors – List of Vendors” at the top of this page. More vendors will be added as the weeks go on, so please check back. You will see that Sundog Organic Farm, Sunshine Organic Farm, Serben Free Range and others will be at our City Hall location. Remember to talk to your favourite vendors about their market schedule because they sometimes take a well-deserved Saturday off from the Market.

This is fantastic news. Just came to the site to see if the 104th Street market was on today or if it was closed for the winter. Very happy to hear the market will be open all year round. And love the City Hall location so this is very good news indeed.

Hi Sheila,
We are very sorry this happened. Thank you for bringing it to our attention. The City Hall parking sign was malfunctioning last Saturday. It will be fixed for this Saturday’s market. Please be assured that there is ample, and inexpensive ($1 for 4 hours), parking underground at City Hall every Saturday. We hope you come back to visit and shop with us soon.

It would be a great idea to have some information about the history of the market on this website. It is kinda neat to know that Edmonton’s market first started where Churchill Square is today. It is cool that the market is at City Hall because it is so close to where is began 100 years ago.

Our farmers’ market does have a pretty incredible history. There is a post on our history in the News section of our blog http://city-market.ca/2011/10/a-farmers-market-that-doesnt-show-her-ag/, but your comment raises the point that we should put a link to this post in the About section to make it easier to find. Thanks, Nancy!

The market is great..the smell, the food, and Buttercup. That is what I love about the market!

We planned to visit the market today, specifically to purchase lamb from the Hank and Nicol Strokappe and Family Farm Fresh Lamb booth. To our disappointment, they are not one of your listed vendors. Have we lost them? Their lamb meat was excellent.
We have missed out on the Saturday farmers’ market experience this winter, but finally (!) looking at your website we realize that we don’t have to wait until the outdoor market returns to 104 St.

Hank and Nicole, who offer wonderful lamb products from Farm Fresh Lamb, are usual weekly vendors at our outdoor market on 104th Street. They will be joining us again every Saturday this summer.
